I am the youngest and lost my first tooth in the early 90's . Can't exactly pinpoint which age. 

I couldn't get anything for 25c then, except for a single piece or stick of candy sometimes sold in places like Cracker Barrel. I was in a big family, but we weren't bad off for the most part. So I always felt a bit pi$$ed of when I couldn't get anything for 25c!

Cute story:

This year at Easter my oldest asked me if the Easter Bunny was real.  He is in the 6th grade so I finally told him the truth.  Then he said I guess Santa isn't real either?  So I had to tell him about that too.  Well we were getting ready to go to a movie.  When we get to the theater he asked me something about Christmas, and I said yeah, it was hard hiding the big presents.  He looks at me and said, what?  You and Dad buy the gifts?  I just stared at him a minute, and said yes, I did tell you Santa wasn't real.  He was like, wow, I still thought maybe Santa got the stuff.  LOL

Later that day, we are on the way to the grocery store.  And he bring this up again, and I said we hid things outside in the garage sometimes.  Then I told him, the hardest thing was getting the money under his pillow for the tooth fairy.  He said WHAT?!  You are the tooth fairy too?!  I nearly wrecked, I was lol so hard.  OK, Santa isn't real but the tooth fairy is?!   OMG that kid is such a good kid, and totally naive.
