I use cornstarch instead of flour when I make gravy because it's lighter & makes a better gravy without lumps

@Ambyr: I have also just recently lost a dear friend from high school. I had JUST gotten back in touch with her over Facebook last year, and found out she died this past week from an accidental overdose...

BUT, other than that, my summer break has been ABSOLUTELY wonderful! Have gone on a few trail rides with some good friends and my amazing horse, rescued AND re-homed a mini-schnauzer, and hung out (a.k.a. babysat) my nephews.

Oh, and took lots of naps. ahhhhhhh........

@pharlap: Sorry for your loss as well.. It sucks losing loved ones..

Debby and I were best friends for over 20 years and it's been a few years since she passed.. I just have days that are tougher than others. Especially since I haven't had time to make any friends since I've moved to Houston. That's only my own fault. I'm looking forward to joining a church somewhere soon though. No idea on where to start. I miss my old church terribly!
