The center will work in conjunction with the Lake Houston Family YMCA, located in Kingwood, he said. The YMCA is about one mile from the center's location. "We didn't want to compete with the YMCA, which is one of the reasons that we didn't have a basketball court or other amenities like that in the center," he said. "Since we are going to work in conjunction with the YMCA, it made more sense to do it this way." Jenna Dhayer, YMCA community executive director, said the center would allow the organization to reach a demographic not usually associated with the YMCA.
