Now I am kind of afraid to let my kids walk on the greenbelt alone. No one should walk alone anymore in areas that aren't visible. Always use the buddy system!
Thank you so much for the newspaper writeup. While Channel 2 was there I observed 2 young girls on their bikes riding along the trail they were shooting photos. Folks my daughters are 19 and 25. I believe we should be very careful right now with these men around just waiting on someone to come by. Even two young girls on bikes are not safe. Lets be careful until this blows over.... watch Garage doors....don't let your children go out on the trails alone....or walk to the store until this person is caught. God Bless....
Why can't this happen to someone who is armed just once? Just once I'd like to see a story like this where the girl shots the pos. Same if you are going to Bed Bath and Beyond, anytime after Thanksgiving. That is the worst parking lot. People leave stuff in their cars and cars get broken into almost every day there.
But one day someone is going to try and rob the wrong person. Then we are going to hear how great the guy was, and that he didn't deserve to get shot.
Hi Ann. I don't mean to single you out to be rude. I'm just really concerned by this particular statement. And I wanted to say in a loving but firm way that this kind of thinking will make you and your family a target. No need for paranoia but I just don't think it's EVER good practice (referring to the article) for any lady to ever jog alone by any wooded area unless she is packing heat and has no hesitation to kill if her life was threatened. I truly hope you rethink this statement.
@Humble Home I read my statement and I am not trying to be paranoid. As a matter of fact I am one of those that do have heat and ready any time and an alarm on my home. Aug 1983 I had an attemped Rape. I have been there. I just believe when we have knowledge of someone lurking its time to be very careful. Normally we know we always need to be careful but this tunnel is half a mile from my home. Ihave two daughters and when I observed the girl on her bike alone...it made me cringe. Thank you for the post. I think there was a misunderstanding.... I understand what you are saying and completely respect that.
The tunnel is under Northpark between Brookdale and Woodbridge. I go through it all the time. Next time I'll be packing because my wife walks the dog all the time there. If more of us that had CHL's walked the Greenbelts it may scare off the rejects.
For some reason, Elm Grove which is on the North side of the tunnel has a ton of problems. Hunters Ridge which on the South side is fairly crime free. The difference is that Hunters Ridge pays for the Sheriff to patrol. We need our Bike Patrols back but I guess that by putting the officers in cars instead to write tickets brings in money while the Bike Patrol is not Revenue Generating.
