Not gonna pay for a shopping cart. Just not going to do it. I would never go there because of that.Nothing ticks me off worse than the arrogance of a company to think I need to shop with them bad enough, that I would pay for a cart. I know it is only a quarter, it isn't the cost, it is the very idea. I mean how stupid for a company to charge you to use a cart, so that you could buy more. Thus making the company more money.Stupid business practice.Not gonna use a self check out either, unless the company is giving me a discount for working for them. I sure don't get anything out of it. Every time at Kroger, Lowe's or Walmart, I still have to wait for the helper to come over.

@Fallon: U get it back silly. They do it so they don't have I pay someone to go get them. I like the idea! Keeps the idiots who dont return their cart and just leaving them in the parking lot from messing up someone's car!

@mpjp0907: The big supermarket chain on the east coast does the same thing! Put you quarter in and it releases it from the other baskets & when you return it you put the chain in the cart in front of you in the stall & you get your quarter back! It's truly simple - but people can't handle new fangled things!

Im pretty sure if someone really wanted to steal a cart one quarter would not stop them from taking the cart.

I was just saying it in general not at you.When I lived in college station people would steal the carts all the time, would see them in the apartments, I was just figuring they was their reason for why they do this. There is no reason to be rude. Also for future reference normally when people address someone directly they quote so if I was saying that in response to your post I would have directed it to you.

Wow...my FH will be super happy when he wakes up...when we go to Kroger he always wishes we had an Aldi...too bad they are 13 miles away from us...but well still make the drive

@Nicole4647: Just out of curiosity..... what does FH stand for? I know DH is "darling/dear husband".

One F word comes to mind.....

I Like the return cart idea also!

In the spring of next year they are scheduled to open 10 more Aldi stores throughout Houston. I've researched a lot about Aldi and looks like they purchased land out in Katy. Don't know when the other locations will be at.

Gross. They are pretty nasty stores IMO. It is mostly off-brand processed and canned foods stacked in boxes all over the place. Nothing that I purchase on a regular basis. The meat and dairy from there would not make it into my home either. If you think shopping at the Porter Walmart is entertaining, just wait :/
