I ONLY use Redken Extreme CAT...it smells awesome and works wonders. I do not like the off brand because they seem to be the same but watered down. I buy mine at Beauty Brands $12.98 annual liter sale and it lasts me the whole year. But they just ended it I think.
Back to Basics Straightening Shampoo and Straightening Conditioner...they're $20-something each (depending on the salon...amazon usually has them cheaper), but they're giant bottles and last forever. No frizz with this stuff, even in Houston summers.
Imagine my surprise when I found both at the Tuesday Morning on 1960 for $9.99 each. If you have naturally wavy or semi-way hair, but wear it straight (with an iron), I'd highly recommend this stuff.
I think the store brands work fine on some hair, but tend to be really drying on other types. I can get away with them in the winter, but my hair is a hot mess with them in the summer humidity lol
My favorite is Biolage I use the volumizing formula because my hair is fine. I've tried cheaper shampoos and conditioners but since I color my hair, the cheaper shampoos leave residue and don't allow the color to go on evenly. If I do use something cheaper, I opt for a clarifying shampoo like Pantene.
That is all
I think it varies from person to person. I love the dove shampoos and conditioners and suave, everything else makes my hair feel gross. The more expensive it is the worse my hair feels afterwards.
I love the Umberto brand at Target. It's 8.99 a bottle. It makes my hair feel way better than Suave. I think if your hair isn't over processed or damaged, Suave is fine, but when you color your hair a lot like I do, you need something gentler.
