@jandemom: how far are you pulling these stats? They are high because you maybe seeing numbers from the loop 610 up to beltway 8 ( harris county---northeast houston quadrant). You need to look @ numbers from say Townsen rd north up to Northpark dr going North and then heading east to the back of Kingwood. One thing else I can tell you, if you live in Kingwood, you would NOT have to evacuate for a hurricane like you may have to below I-10 ( just something to keep in mind). Hope this info helps!

Kingwood is WONDERFUL!!! Not to mention that US 59 is the best commuter hwy. to downtown Houston...If you move to South of Houston, traffic will be a BEAR....and West areas - like the Woodlands (althought The Woodlands is also very nice), traffic around there and the Katy area is horrible on a regular basis.
..And, Kingwood has wonderful schools.... The crime rate you are looking at is just like mardigrasman said.....

I feel safer in Kingwood than I do when I go to other Houston suburbs. The only other suburb I would consider living is the Woodlands but I wouldn't live there if I would have to commute to downtown.

@Humble Home: what could also be skewing the stats are how big a quadrant it is pulling in? Does it pull in :

Kingwood---Harris County
Kingwood--Montgomery County
or both seeing as Kingwood does extend on the west side of 59 towards the San Jacinto river/Sorters rd??

Is this a concern for Kingwood residents? What is there that is causing the spike?

Not sure what spike you're seeing, but Kingwood is a very safe little suburb. I've lived in many different towns/cities/suburbs all over the country,...no place is perfectly safe at all times...there is crime everywhere. But I'm pretty confident saying that Kingwood is just about as safe as it gets in the USA.

Welcome to Kingwood, by the way! Where are you moving from? These forums on Kingwood.com are a great resource -- there are many knowledgeable residents here that can help you get adjusted to a new town.

sometimes those stats are not always accurate and have not been adjusted/corrected for ajudication purposes. The best thing is to check all the places you are looking into IN PERSON to gauge what your gut feeling is/what vibes you are feeling while doing the due dilligence proccess.
