So...I was thinking about how to make the message boards a safer, more forgiving place for KDC residents to speak their mind, and decided to add the functionality where a KDC member can clear-out any message they've posted that is over a month old.
The idea being that, if you had a really bad day, or were drunk-posting one night, or were passionately arguing for something you later realized was dead wrong, you shouldn't have to live with those messages for years down the road...
On posts that are over a month old, there's a new "Clear Message" link at the bottom of the post. If you click it and clear out one of your messages, there will still be a placeholder where you posted the original message, but instead of the original text, it will include the text " [ Removed by Author ] ".
This change gives more control to KDC'ers regarding how (and for how long) their content is published on the KDC web site.
Why Only Posts Over a Month Old? There has to be a little accountability for what you say on KDC......but the 1-month limit maintains some accountability, while making sure your threads don't have to stay on permanent record on the web for years to come.
As always: if there's an extreme case where you've posted something you don't want posted (e.g., accidentally compromised your anonymity, or posted something that might get you fired), you can use the "Contact" link at the bottom of any page to ask a moderator to have it removed.

@mm4731:
They were there before the "thanks" button. A few months that I've noticed.

I think this may have been more useful BEFORE the board was wiped a couple of months ago. Other than a few random pissy comments now and then I thought everyone got along fine.

@BooBear True -- The wipe out is what got me thinking about it, after several members mentioned they were glad the old posts were gone. ; )
@SandyKnee -- Good observation...I'll see if I can code something to remove the quotes as well.

Thanks Joe. Although I don't recall what I wrote yesterday, much less what I wrote a month ago. So I'll just aplogize here:
Sorry if I offended anyone with any of my comments in the last 6 years that I have been a member of KDC.

@mm4731: They were on everyone's posts I thought. I could have sworn it. Dude my memory must be going. Either something got messed up on the tech part or I'm slowly slipping into senility.

I really think that a tab for rescue related threads is needed. It has become almost at contentious as politics at times. Not that I mind reading them but my guess is that even the rescuers would appreciate having a place to post without craziness interfering in their passions.
