They are really salty, so 3-5 at any one time is about my limit.

They taste nothing like the canned black or green cocktail types.

Not an olive fan. Too salty for me. Yes , I have had "good" ones. Just not my thing.
I grew up on a low sodium diet as a kid, cause my mom had to for her edema.

Yup, since olives need to be brined to make them ready for eating, they are salty.
Olives need to be cured to remove the bitter taste. Brine curing is the best way to do that.

Typically if you do not like salt, than you need Lye or Fresh Water cured olives.
