Some punk kids came by late last night and decided to knock down my mailbox with a giant rock and take it with them.

My DH didn't call the police because he said by the time he got outside he didn't see the car or anything and figured they couldn't do anything.

If you happen to find a black mail box, please let me know. I am so agravated at this point.

Friday night we had glass bottles thrown in the street and I have one intact in my yard.   We don't get that stuff until summer when the kids are let out.

File a formal complaint with the Post Office. They have the form online or at the KW PO. Even though you purchase the mailbox, it is the property of the US Postal Service, and mailbox vandalism is a federal crime. If or when they are caught, they face more than a slap on the wrist from a local JP. If they did it to your box, you can bet they have done it to others and will do it again, and may graduate to other, more violent forms of vandalism. The threat of being turned over to the feds can make a really good impression on the kids and their parents.

I made a report already.  We went driving around yesterday and saw 3 other mail boxes damaged or broken off the pole.  One house had the pole and mailboxes sitting on the front porch next to the door.

@JJ I have one of those mailboxes surrounded by brick. Anyway, it's been a dumbarse free weekend so far. Probably because I only left the house a couple of times.
