Well all the unhappy dentist people yet not one of you have signed the petition I posted to change this sort of stuff....LOL
kristina Tx I dont have a good pediatric dentist to refer you to because my kid can no longer do regular dentist trips...she can now only be treated in a hospital setting fully put under.
I can however tell you to stay away from any dentist that wont allow you in the room no matter how serious the procedure is or no matter how much you think they can be trusted and no matter how many Dental aids are in there. If you cant be in there do not and I repeat DO NOT ever leave your child even the12 yr old in the room without you. I dont care what excuse they give you, if that's the policy.........RUN
Do not think a BBB check or a dental board check is enough. Its not they tell you nothing about the dentist past.
Do NOT use one that doesn't know CPR(ask to see proof of test certificate less than 2 years old) and does not have the life saving equipment in the same room....no by law they dont have to be checked if their CPR certifications are Up to date, or have the equipment...No really its true.(just answering your quiet thought of thinking that's gotta be a law)...ITS NOT IN MANY STATES!
If the workup plan the dentist gives you sounds excessive.....IT IS...most of work many dentist do on baby teeth and children are not needed no matter what they say and what horrid fear they put you under to believe the work is needed, if it sounds excessive run and find another dentist for second opinion.
Do not and i repeat DO NOT ALLOW THEM TO USE A PAPOOSE BOARD UNLESS ITS AN EMERGENCY! Emergency meaning seizures, convulsions, transfer to hospital...etc
Make sure the dentist sits with you and goes over drugs used and any other questions, do not let an aid do this part. If the dentist wont sit 30 minutes with you then he doesn't deserve your money and chances are he wont read the paper work missing important health info like allergies..
Dental boards tell you one thing and one thing only...if his license is valid at the time you look it up. thats it...you could pick a dentist under investigation, on probation, just got license back over a law suit, being sued or has yes raped or killed someone before and you will not receive that info from the dental board.
I cant tell you what to do I can only tell you what NOT to do to help you keep your children safe.
