I would not leave a 3-day old baby alone with a pet lizard! What were these people thinking?

An attack that lasts only 3 seconds is not an attack, it's a bite. I've been attacked by a boxer and the dog did not want to stop. I had to man handle the hell out of that dog to escape and I am grown.

There should be harsher punishments for irresponsible parents.

Yupp. Irresponsible owners are too blame as well as parents for leaving that child unattended. Just plain stupidity.

I feel very badly for that family.....BUT leaving a 3 DAY old infant unattended in a swing and around ANY cat or dog is not a good idea ....period....
Such a sad thing to happen though. And, of course it is a "pit bull mix"....now the other dog that it is mixed with - like "lab mix" or "shepherd mix" or whatever else it may have been mixed with....

Oh yeah pharlap, now that has some truth to it....it's not the dog you have to worry about, it's the owner! I can get pretty aggressive if need be!

Here come the smoke screeners. The issue with Pit Bulls isn't that they're more likely to be aggressive or to attack, or the myth that their jaws lock. It's that they're more powerful than other dogs.

Of course parents should not leave children alone with dogs. But if that had been a poodle, for example, the baby wouldn't have died.

A Pit bull is more likely to kill a baby than a smaller dog, especially with one bite. However, you can't leave a 3-day old with any pet. I had a hard time taking my eyes off my babies when they were that small for ANY reason.

Fcab, myth busters did a test on rotties, GSD, and pit bull. The pit bull had the weakest bite strength of all 3 breeds!

I've been bitten by a poodle and it did a number on my hand. A poodle could definitely F up a 3 day old baby's face and has the potential to kill it. that is a tiny baby.
