Just left the minor emergency clinic on WLHP & 1960 & I'm fuming. I insisted 5 times on antibiotics &/ or a supressant for DD's brinchitis. They're refusing & saying just albuterol nebulizers & to let her cough for the next two ****ing weeks. I didn't take her in so she can cough for two weeks & let it run it's course, I went to put an end to it. I will NOT be returning. If she's not better by tomorrow night, I'll be taking her to a REAL doctor & not some fresh out of med school know it all who can't get a job at a REAL hospital.

@Heathur: Not sure why no antibiotics were given but they are for infections that are bacterial in nature, not viral. Maybe they didn't give cough supressants because they are trying to get her to expell the mucous in her lungs, that's what the body does to get rid of it. I think checking in with your doc is a good idea. Sorry the munchkin isn't feeling well.

Ditto TTH. No way bronchitis isn't treated with antibiotics. Bronchitis can turn into pneumonia quickly. Esp with the air quality what it is right now, pollen count high. So if your dd has allergies too, it can go downhill fast.

I have never had one of my children, or myself get bronchitis and not be given antibiotics. And no Z pack, a full 10 day dosage. Usually a doc will give you an RX decongestant too. This is just the norm.

Call your dd's doc today and let them know what happened. So sorry she is sick and you had to deal with all that in the middle of the night.

Make sure your dd gets plenty of liquids. Water will really help keep the mucus thinned out. And hot tea will help her feel better too.
