My neighbor's yard - A rant

We moved to KW a few years ago to get out of a less than desirable part of town.  We love it here and love our neighborhood and neighbors.  Except one.  There is one homeowner on our street that does not keep his yard.  He rarely mows it.  In addition to the grass, there’s a large hill in his yard where a tree used to be.  There are resin lawn chairs and weeds near the front of the home.  The only place the grass is not high, is where is washes his four wheeler on the lawn.  Recently they started parking on their lawn.  I’m certain they’ve gotten letters and are choosing to ignore them.  They have the worst yard on our street and now I think they have another family living there also!!

Have you sent a complaint to the HOA yourself? Maybe you and your other neighbors could complain.

Our HOA won't do anything about violators. Elm Grove HOA is terrible, they should have never have outsourced it. The jerk on the corner parks a 5th wheel trailer with a dozer and other equipment and it not only an eyesore and against deed restrictions it's a safety issue with little kids around. We've called the HOA so many times and they just tell everyone to call the cops.

you need to go to an HOA meeting & voice your complaints , call untill they do something. You pay your HOA fees so you will have a nice neighborhood , on that is not "spoiled" by one family . So remember the squeeky wheel always gets more attention than the quiet ones.

All complaints should be in writing and sent to the HOA certified mail.  Assuming sombody else has already complained does you no favors.

yes, attend the neighborhood meeting and voice your concern there, then it will be in the minutes and you can get some answers.
It's likely they are getting letter like you said, and it could have been turned over to the attorney by now..   Good luck.

A bunch of the hoas are managed by the same people. They do not do anything about the complaints. We have called and written about different things. We also went to the meetings.....no action.

whenever I see posts like these, I'm always scared they're talking about my yard. It's not trashy (IMO), but it sure doesn't look great either. Not me!

I don't own a mower.  I have a service.  He has a wife, two kids, and a family living with him.  Why would I ask if he needs help.

I think Ive been by that house you're talking about. Is this the same that has the 8 1/2 foot tall fence that looks like poo, and is in violation of a bunch of rules? Lawn service people live, and work out of that house. It's either a huge family, or way more than one that live there. When people bring their kids to the park, and park across the street, it's a traffic nightmare through there. I can't believe he hasn't gotten a letter on that fence. It's a major eyesore, and out of regulation with the HOA, KSA, and City of Houston.

If you live in Elm Grove they are buttheads!  I got a letter about a little grass (crabgrass) in my driveway cracks.  The HOA member lives two doors down.  My other neighbor got the same letter and they said they had pictures!!!  OMG dont they do anything bout the buttheads that DONT MOW???  Heck no!  They are probably friends!  If you want to know who the HOA is I will point her out to you!  She's a noisy busy body with nothing to do but take pictures of peoples driveways.  My yard is always clean and mowed so she can't gripe about that!

A friend of mine had the hoa hire her front yard mowed without letting her know, then billed her. Of course the billing thing probably wouldn't work, but it could be fairly cheap to have the front yard mowed. Maybe they would get the picture prob not. But at least the weeds get knocked down before they spread.

On my street we have a lovely lot full of weeds, a slab and what's left of a garage after the house burnt down. Into the second year now like that.
