Community Rules

Think of Kingwood.com as a local gathering place for friendly neighbors in the Kingwood area. Conversation and debate may be lively, but is always civil, and is generally focused on Kingwood and surrounding areas.

As a member, you agree to the following rules when using Kingwood.com:
  • RESPECT is the name of the game. You must respect your fellow members. Please refrain from inflammatory and defamatory comments as well as flaming, taunting and general disrespect. If you disagree with an opinion, explain why--respectfully. Do not make remarks about typos, duplicate / accidental posts, posting styles, etc. This is not the place to aggressively pursue attacks and accusations on one's chosen style or background.
  • Do not pretend to be someone else, mislead others, or post messages under several member names for a single topic. Users with multiple accounts may have all accounts and messages removed without notice.
  • Please don't post messages or pictures a 13 year old wouldn't be allowed to see.
  • Please do not post unsolicited business advertisements. A "business advertisement" includes any offer of a service to the public, from a company or individual, for profit.
  • Personal attacks are not allowed. Do not harass or threaten others, deliberately inflame or disrupt the conversation, or air personal grievances about other members of the community.
  • Personal grievances among members should be dealt with privately and respectfully through PMs (private messaging) and not on the community forums.
  • Think of this as a polite conversation. DON’T YELL, and respect others' rights to their opinions.
  • Be careful about posting personal information, and do not post the personal information of others without their permission.
  • Your words and images must be your own or ones you have permission to use. Please respect others' copyrighted material. Do not post others' private emails or private messages (PMs) in the forums unless you have their permission to do so.
  • Do not post web addresses/links to competitor sites/forums.
  • Do not Spam or send multiple copies of the same post or comment.
  • No bullying. If you do not think a person should be allowed to use the web site, bring it up with a moderator.
  • If you have a problem with the web site, please bring it up with an administrator rather than complaining on the message boards. Public complaints about the web site, administrators or moderators is a Terms of Service violation will result in the message being removed and your account being put into read-only mode.
  • All content is granted to us with perpetual electronic publishing rights, because any content posted on this community becomes a part of the community, even if you no longer are. You may request an item to be removed at any time, but we will decide when and if removing the content is acceptable, and if it will damage the community discussions.
  • Do not "stalk" another member from one discussion thread to another.
  • Do not follow someone into another thread and try to continue a disagreement that began elsewhere (either in time or in space).
  • Do not disparage an individual in a thread where that person is not participating.
  • Do not start a new discussion thread with the purpose of picking a fight with another member.
Private Messages:
The private message (PM) system of the forums allows you to send messages to other members in private. Where applicable, the same guidelines apply to the private message system as apply to messages posted on the forums. Sending any unrequested commercial and/or bulk message through the private message system may result in immediate suspension of posting privileges. Furthermore, any reports of harrassment via the PM system will be investigated. To report an abusive or unwanted PM, please use the site's Contact Form.

Show Forum Moderators Respect:
Members may not publicly attack a Moderator or intentionally undermine a Moderator's actions. It is okay for a member to publicly ask a Moderator why an admonishment was issued, or to disagree with a Moderator. It is not okay for a member to harass, bait, or slander a Moderator. If a member wishes to challenge a Moderator action that involves the member, this challenge must be raised in private, not public, communication via PM. Moderators do not deserve to have scorn heaped upon, them either publicly or privately. If you have a problem with a post, please click on the "Flag" icon under that post. Please do not complain about posts publicly; due to time and sheer volume of post here, the Moderation team cannot read all posts. Moderators are not expected to be online all the time and the Forum is not moderated 24x7. Thus it is unreasonable to expect immediate response to every problem that arises on this discussion board.

Politics Forum:

Broad generalizations about entire groups or public officials are not considered personal attacks. However, they are often inflammatory (counterproductive), and Moderators have broad discretion to edit such posts in the interests of maintaining civil discourse in the Forum.

Posting for the sake of provoking anger is discouraged. Continued posts of this type are considered trolls or flames, and the poster will lose posting privileges.

Personal attacks are not allowed. Any direct and specifically organized wording intended to disparage a person (including, but not limited to: personal qualities, beliefs, points-of-view, and political ideology) is prohibited. Personal attacks are clearly intended to smear, insult, or disparage. There are two types:

1. Saying bad things about another member of this Forum. For example: "You are an idiot."
2. Insulting another member of this Forum. For example: "Screw you."
When a post is obviously intended to be malicious, it will be edited.

All statements that begin with "you" are not attacks, although this is a yellow flag. However, if someone says "you frequently make negative comments about <insert group name>," that would be allowed if it accurately characterizes that person's posting style. However, if someone types "you are a liar," or "you are a hypocrite," or "you always lie," then that post has crossed the line into personal attack because the comment asserts a negative personal characteristic.

Message board moderators have the right, but not the obligation, to enforce the above rules, and have the right to edit or delete any content that, in the moderator's judgment, violates the spirit of these Community Rules. All moderator decisions are final.

By using Kingwood.com, you agree to follow these Community Rules and you accept the terms of our Community Agreement.

If a user violates our guidelines or shows a disregard for them, our staff, or our community, they run the risk of losing their account. We reserve the right to deactivate any account and to edit or remove any content without warning.

This document and our policies may change from time to time. Any such modifications will be posted at this address and may be changed at any time, without notice. Please check here regularly for any such changes to our policies.
